Yesterday, I as I was driving my daughter to her daycare, when I noticed that firetrucks were lining the Hucks convenience store and gas station at the intersection of Highway 66 and State Road 261 in Newburgh, IN. Upon passing through the intersection, I saw a smouldering car in my side mirror. The media girl in me wanted to turn around and get on site to take photos but I didn't want to put my daughter in danger. Fire and gasoline can be volatile...

Luckily, the Ohio Township Fire Department took some awesome pics of the accident. I learned last night that the brakes went out on car and the driver lost control swerving into the gas pump. A bystander heroically saved the driver before the tires exploded and the car caught fire.

Looking back, this was an incredibly dangerous situation. A big thank you to all our first responders who put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe!
