Scrubs already proved once that extending the franchise is no guarantee of success, even if the NBC-turned-ABC comedy ditched half the original cast for its Interns continuation. That said, Netflix has managed to resuscitate a number of fan-favorites, so what would Zach Braff say to giving a Scrubs revival series the full greenlight?

Take this with a grain of salt for the moment, but even as Braff has previously distanced himself from ABC’s effort to keep Scrubs alive, the Going in Style director answered fan questions on IMDb (via HuffPost) if he’d be open to reprising the role of Dr. John “J.D.” Dorian in a future revival. He’s even had a conversation or two about the prospect, given the success of Netflix series like Fuller House or Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life:

You never know about making more Scrubs episodes, it’s something we all talk about, especially now that all these people are going back and doing Netflix versions of their shows. I am very jealous of all this Gilmore Girls attention and Full House. We talk about it every now and then. So you never know, it could happen. I’d do it.

Then again, Braff somewhat walked back the comments after speculation got out of hand:

Last we heard, Braff was to star in and direct new ABC comedy Start Up, reuniting with Scrubs co-executive producer Matt Tarses. The series is based on the likewise-named podcast Start Up from Alex Blumberg, showcasing the good and bad of a mid-30s man with a wife and kids quitting his job to start a new business.

It’d take a great deal more than Braff’s participation to (figuratively) kickstart a new Scrubs season, but is a return to Sacred Heart (provided we ignore the ninth season) worth the Fuller House treatment? Should we give it a few more years?
