The Christmas season is here and visions of sugarplums aren't the only things dancing in the heads of kids across the state of Indiana. There are toys and other gifts they're hoping Santa will bring them for being a good little boy or girl bouncing around in there too, and they'd love nothing more than to let Santa himself know exactly what those gifts are. However, they need to let him know soon if they want to get a reply before he shows up at their house.

Deadline for Letters to Santa is December 16th (2023)

The Santa Claus, Indiana post office has served as Jolly Ol' St. Nick's "official" post office for years and has received thousands of letters from children around the world since its 14th postmaster, James Martin, began responding to letters well over 100 years ago in 1914.

Each year, the post office releases its official Santa Claus postmark ahead of the holiday season but waits until after the Thanksgiving holiday to make it available.

While the post office will accept letters to Santa from children any time of year, if they'd like to get a response from Kris Kringle or one of his elves, it must arrive at the post office by Saturday, December 16th. That's still a few weeks away as of this writing, but as you know, once Thanksgiving is over and your attention turns to everything that needs to be done before December 25th rolls around it will be easy to forget, so the sooner the better.

Letters can be mailed to Santa at the following address:

P.O. Box 1
