A video for Cinnamon Roll French Toast Bake makes it look like an easy and delicious recipe to whip up in your kitchen, so I gave it a try to see for myself.

The concept seems simple enough, grab a couple of cans of Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls to use in place of traditional bread, mix up the typical French Toast egg mixture, pop it in a casserole dish, and let the oven do its thing. They make it look so easy.

But just like most cooking videos, or shows, lighting and editing can make things appear way better than they actually are. It's like a menu board at a fast food restaurant, what shows up on your tray looks nothing like the photo on the menu board.

Following the recipe to the last letter, I whipped it up over the weekend for me and my kids to try for breakfast. The end result looked like this —

Appearance-wise, I think I got pretty darn close to the final product shown in the video. Yay me!

Taste-wise, the bottom was a little soggy for my liking, but the overall flavor was good. I'm going to call this one a "Nailed It."

If you're looking for something other than cereal or pancakes on the weekend, this is certainly worth giving a try. To get the recipe, visit the Tasty page on Facebook.
