Rodney King, victim of the police brutality that sparked the LA Riots, was found dead in his swimming pool this morning by his fiance. King gained infamy after a high speed car chase with police, ended in the near death beating by four LAPD officers that was video taped by an onlooker.

After months of trial however, and some lawyer tricks that would make Johnnie Cochran blush, the jury was deadlocked and the judge declared a mistrial. Since there were no blacks on the jury, people in LA became outraged and began to tear LA apart.

King eventually won a multi-million dollar lawsuit against the city, and also wrote a book about his ordeal called, "The Riot Within" that was gaining some notoriety, and sad to say, will probably be flying off of the shelves not that he's gone.

King still admitted to having problems with alcohol but was trying to steer his life in a positive direction, so it seemed, by making public appearances, TV shows, and book signings. I even saw him on CNN one morning discussing the Trayvon Martin case with a panel of others. Although not the most eloquent speaker, he sounded sincere and had some positive and constructive things to say.

So far, no signs of foul play have been found, and the toxicology report hasn't been released yet. We don't know if this was an accident or suicide. I'll let you know as soon as I find out more.

R.I.P. Rodney King
