When I was a kid, Nesquik Powder was near the top of my food pyramid. Nothing was better than adding scoop after scoop after scoop to a glass of ice cold milk and chugging it down. Then I became an adult and had to start paying for it myself, which made my trips down Memory Lane few and far between (that stuff's not cheap!). Now, thanks to a recipe I stumbled across online that recreates the famous drink mix on the cheap, I can once again enjoy those cold glasses of chocolate milk of days gone by.

The blog, One Good Thing by Jilliee features an easy, three-ingredient recipe for homemade Nesquik that I tweaked ever-so-slightly. See, when it comes to chocolate, I like mine like I like my women — sweet and a little bitter, so I replaced standard cocoa powder with Hersey's Special Dark Cocoa Powder. And yes, it is as amazing as it sounds.

Here's what you'll need:

  • Cocoa Powder
  • Sugar
  • Salt
  • Storage Container (I keep mine in a Bell Jar)

Depending on the size of the opening on your container, a funnel of some type may also come in handy.

Now that you have the ingredients, here's what to do:

Pour 1/3 cup of cocoa powder with 2/3 cup of sugar, and a pinch of salt (roughly 1/8th of a teaspoon) into the container. Place the lid on your container (make sure it's on tight) and shake it like a Polaroid picture until all the ingredients are combined thoroughly.

Now you're ready to spoon as much or as little as you want into that cold glass of milk, or over a big bowl of Cookies and Cream ice cream like I do.
