Every week at PopCrush, we’re putting the spotlight on one up-and-coming act you need to know about. Why? So you can get on board early before everyone else and their mother jumps on the bandwagon…and so you can be that one friend in the group who’s always like, “Um, actually, I prefer their earlier work.”

California-based electropop artist DENM may go by a moniker that's no friend to search engines, but his irresistible debut single ensures he's well worth seeking out.

"Lit," a garage house-y ode to hedonism and the rush of infatuation, was released less than a month ago — but it's already managed to rack up over 350,000 plays on SoundCloud, and cracked the top 10 on both Hype Machine’s and Spotify's New & Hot Electronic Charts. Given DENM's currently-scant online presence (so mysterious!), that's quite an impression. One listen...probably followed by a replay or two, and it's easy to hear why.

Today, we're excited to premiere an intimate acoustic version of "Lit" performed seaside by the artist, against a sky awash in pink and purple hues. While the original is something of a dance floor crush declaration, the stripped-down, guitar-driven spin on the track turns it into more of a romantic serenade.
