One of my favorite things to do is to attend as many comic, gaming, or anime conventions as humanly possible. It's always a blast to hang out with people who enjoy the same stuff as you and spend all the money on geek memorabilia. On Friday and Saturday, I got to do all of that at Pop! Con 2016!

On Friday night, I got to hang out with this massive Hulkbuster Cosplay. This thing was over 7 ft tall and Hulk(bustered) its way through the Con. This thing was amazing to see in person and props to the person who is able to wear this without dying of heat exhaustion.

On Saturday, I wanted to get in the true Con spirit by cosplaying as Han Solo. Also, I was judging the Cosplay contest later on in the afternoon so I didn't want to be the only guy NOT in costume. Unfortunately, someone else ALSO decided to be Han Solo. This is what it feels like to wear the same dress to the prom. Instead of being Han Solo, we were part of a Han Duet.

Some of the costumes this year were super creative. Some of the team members from the local roller derby team showed up as Roller Derby versions of some of the best female characters, most notably Leeloo and She-Hulk. My amazing friend LaDawn worked it as Roller Derby Harley Quinn.

I had mentioned this amazing Rey cosplay back during my review and summary of EvilleCon. Rey was cosplayed by my friend Curt and Kim's daughter, Jocelyn, We were able to get a cool Han Solo and Rey picture, Also, her dad Curt is an amazing painter who had a booth at the Con. You can check out his work here.

At this point during the Con, I had mastered the Han Solo pose. This Steampunk Ariel was amazingly done by my friend Patty. She even had a fork to comb her hair! Sorry, I meant to say Dinglehopper.

After the Cosplay Contest, in which I managed to legitimately Steve Harvey and announced the wrong winner, I changed out of Han Solo and into regular Gavin. Unfortunately, when you announce the wrong winner, Negan from the Walking Dead introduces you to Lucille.

The highlight of the weekend though was getting to meet and hangout with Mike and Ming from Comic Book Men. These were two of the nicest dudes I've ever met. They had one of the best panels I've ever attended and took time to meet almost everyone at the Con. If you are ever out in New Jersey, stop by Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash. Or check out which con they'll be appearing at next and say hi!

Pop! Con has continued to grow year after year and it's super exciting for this type of event to flourish in Evansville. I had so much fun this year and cannot wait until next!
