The Evansville Environmental Protection Agency along with the Vanderburgh County Health Department have issued another ozone alert for the Evansville area on Sunday. Excessive ozone levels can cause throat and lung irritation, shortness of breath, and increased frequency of asthma attacks in children and people with respiratory diseases.

The Vanderburgh County Health Department also advises you refrain from certain activities during an ozone alert.

Those suggestions include:

  • Don't gas up your vehicle until after 6pm
  • Wait to mow your lawn until the late evening hours or until the alert has been lifted (Editor's note: Like I need an excuse NOT to mow my yard)
  • Group necessary errands into one trip
  • Do not open burn

Again, this is just a portion of suggestions they offer. You can find the complete list of advisories on their website.
