The Rob & Kat Mykals were discussing all of the Oscar winners this morning on The Rob's Radio Show, and Rob was excited to learn that "Paperman" won the Oscar for Best Animated Short.

Kat:

This morning Rob & I were discussing the winners from last nights Academy Awards, and I wasn't familiar with the winner for Best Animated Short: "Paperman." Rob was quick to tell me he has seen it! Apparently it played before "Wreck It Ralph" when he saw it in the theater. Intrigued, I did a quick search on YouTube, and found the Short in it's entirety. You know, a full Short - that just sounds silly! Anyway, after watching it, I fell in love! Even without any voice-overs the story is well conveyed, and even in black and white, love knows no bounds. ♥

The Rob:

I got a chance to see this unique short film before a movie that was better than any film nominanted for the Academy Awards' Picture of the Year, "Wreck it Ralph."  It captivated me in a way that I've never felt before.  I felt it deep in my chest, slightly left of center, where most people have a heart.  The simplicity in its style, characters, and plot made it a warm and charming short film that wouldn't have been possible in a full-length feature.  The absence of dialogue put the focus on the art and story-telling.  I also like that main character in the short, looks like a teacher I had in high school.  The fact that Kat and I can agree on its quality shows that the film is very powerful.  FUN FACT: Producers of this movie were escorted out of the Academy Awards last night for throwing paper airplanes at the stage!
