The rumor mill — a mill created for the sole purpose of churning out rumors — has run rampant over the weekend with new allegations of an entirely unexpected musical pairing: x singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran and Pussycat Doll-turned-"Puakenikeni" solo pop sensation, Nicole Scherzinger. No, not a collaboration — a romance.

Take this one with a big fat grain of salt given the source, but The Sun reports that the two are in the beginning stages of courtship.

"As far as [Ed's] concerned they were in the early stages of dating and he’s been open about it with close friends and colleagues. It may not develop beyond those dates but they're definitely tight," reports 'a friend' to professional UK gossiper, Dan Wootton. (Do you think that friend was Taylor Swift? And, if it is, do you think it's because Taylor Swift is insanely jealous of Scherzy's ability to fire a crossbow mid-split?)

The "Pretty" PCD singer, who has yet to release a solo album in America (although Her Name Is Nicole is still available to pre-order on Amazon), split with her ex, Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, earlier this year upon his reported refusal to get married.

Nicole's 'friend' (probably Robin Antin) also spilled some deets about their alleged diddling to The Sun: “They were showbiz friends who saw each other on the scene. She was drawn to him over the last few months through his music. When she split from Lewis, she was heartbroken but ended up playing Ed’s songs on a loop.”

According to the report, Sheeran took Scherzy on a date in London following her run as Grizabella in Cats: The Musical. He also invited the Killer Love singer backstage at his string of shows at Wembley Stadium last month. And there's even Instagram evidence of the two hanging out recently: "Okay okay you win @teddysphotos, you're taller #UOENO," the "Club Banger Nation" singer captioned a photo of the two standing back-to-back. But as far as an official statement from the two confirming their rumored romance? Well, don't hold your breath.

What do you think, #KillerLovers? Did Nicole's "Poison" find a way into Ed's "Bloodstream"? Are they now "Bang"-ing? And are you here for SCHERZAN?
