The new park will feature everything from a dog park to a skate park, along with volleyball and basketball courts.

After months of work by a design team consisting of Hafer Associates of Evansville and Rundell Ernstberger Associates of Muncie, Mayor Lloyd Winnecke revealed the first draft of what the city plans to do with the former site of Roberts Stadium during a town hall meeting at Swonder Ice Arena Tuesday evening.

Other features of the park will include a waterfall with splash pad for the kids (and adults) to play in as well as a playground, and an eight-acre space the Mayor's office calls a "great lawn".

Evansville Area Trails Coalition President Roberta Heiman, in an interview with the Evansville Courier and Press during the town hall, said the concept presented is not final as local officials continue to seek input from residents on the layout.

Mayor Winnecke's office will hold another town hall meeting next Wednesday from 5:30-7pm at Holy Redeemer Church on Mill Road (click for map) to give residents unable to attend the first meeting a chance to see the design and provide comments, suggestions or concerns.

14 News has video of Tuesday's meeting with images of the drawings on their website.
