Mary J. Blige was very candid about her emotional divorce from her husband and manager of 12 years, Kendu Isaacs, on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club on Friday (March 31).

During her 30-minute interview, the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul opened up about why her marriage crumbled. According to Blige, her soon-to-be ex-husband was in love with another woman. "When someone loves someone else there's nothing you can do," she said. "It's wack, but that's what I'm suffering through right now."

"I'm not happy that I'm dealing with it," she added. "But I have to keep my head up and let people see how I come out of this because everybody is watching to see if I'm going to crack up, to see if I'm going to spazz out, to see if I'm going to get petty. I might get a little petty... but other than that, I'm trying to get through it. It's ugly and it's terrible."

MJB believes that he gave Isaacs too much power in terms of managing her career, which subsequently resulted in the dissolution of their marriage. "He didn't handle it right," she said. "It was never enough, so what can you do?"

As for her upcoming album, Strength of Woman, MJB says the album is about her and her resilience through her divorce. “It just about me and my strength as a woman,” she said. “I started recording it about a year ago from a perspective of a woman fighting for her marriage. Of course, it didn’t turn out that way.”

As she attests on her empowering new single, “Love Yourself” (Featuring Kanye West), Blige will persevere through her struggles and come out on top. Watch Mary J. Blige’s interview with The Breakfast Club above.
