Over the summer, a report suggested that Warner Bros. had put Man of Steel 2 in “active development,” despite reports in 2015 that the sequel to Zack Snyder’s Superman film had been placed on permanent hold. Warner Bros. has yet to confirm plans for a new standalone Superman sequel, but it looks like someone else just did it for them: Henry Cavill’s manager.

Dany Garcia is the subject of a Newsweek profile that takes an in-depth look at how she made a superstar out of her most famous client, Dwayne Johnson. In addition to representing Johnson (who is also her producing partner and ex-husband), Garcia manages Henry Cavill, whom she believes could very well follow in The Rock’s massive footsteps (she’s definitely ambitious). While discussing Cavill, Garcia casually confirmed that Man of Steel 2 is currently in development:

Henry has a big appetite. We’ve been in a five-month period of time where he’s re-strategizing, acquiring property [for his production company Promethean], he’s filming [Justice League] now, he’s in development for the Superman standalone… he’s beginning to expand that world. It’s beautifully teed up. In a year from now, or two years from now, he’s going to be a force globally.

As of now, Man of Steel 2 still isn’t on WB’s DC Films release schedule, but that doesn’t mean that they won’t make room for it if necessary. Back in April, Cavill and Zack Snyder expressed interest in making another Superman standalone movie, if and when their schedules would allow for it. Last month, The Wrap reported that Man of Steel 2 is not only in “active development” at Warner Bros., but that the studio has made it a “top priority” and, following negative reviews of Batman v Superman, they really want to get the character right on his next go-round.

If true, that may indicate that WB is open to looking for another director — not Snyder — to helm Man of Steel 2.
