‘Magic Mike’ Sequel Gets Title and Director
Saddle up, ladies! Channing Tatum and his crew of hunky male strippers may be hitting theaters sooner than you think. It's been reported that the 'Magic Mike' sequel will be titled 'Magic Mike XXL' and shooting will begin this fall.
The Playlist reports that the sequel to the 2012 surprise hit has been given the "go" to proceed, with Greg Jacobs taking over directorial duties. Jacobs is a longtime assistant director for Steven Soderbergh, who directed the first film. 'Magic Mike' co-star Joe Manganiello revealed to the site that an official announcement is expected "soon."
Few details regarding the project are known, other than the script is being worked on by Tatum and co-writer Reid Carolin. Both Tatum and Carolin have spoken about their plans for the story, which will take some characters from the first movie on the road. It is unknown which actors from the first film -- including Matthew McConaughey, Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer -- will appear in the sequel.
The first 'Magic Mike' opened to critical acclaim so it's no surprise that fans would want a sequel. With a title like 'Magic Mike XXL,' you can bet that we'll see bigger things in the next one.
