Looking For A Few Good Ladies: Alzheimer’s Association’s Blondes vs. Brunettes

Are you ready for some flag-football? The Alzheimer’s Association’s Blondes vs. Brunettes are looking for a few lovely ladies to round out the Brunette team!

The Alzheimer’s Association’s Blondes vs. Brunettes are two teams of women competing in a flag football game to help raise awareness and funds in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. As you can imagine, the teams are divided  to reflect the age-old rivalry between blondes and brunettes. Blondes vs. Brunettes will be played on Sunday June 24th at 2:00pm at Bosse High School.

They are still in need of brunette team members. If you are interested, you can sign up here. Want to know how the event got it’s start & how your participation can help? Oh! By the way. If you’re a redhead, you’re a free agent and you can play for either team!

Blondes vs. Brunettes®  was created in the fall of 2005 by a group of young professional women in Washington, D.C., led by Sara Abbott. Her sister, Kate Stukenberg, soon grew the game to Texas. The founders had a personal connection to Alzheimer’s disease and designed the event to raise awareness among their peers while also raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Association. Since that inaugural game in Washington D.C., the event has successfully branched out to more than 20 additional cities, raising more than $2 million and bringing thousands of new supporters to the cause.

Blondes vs. Brunettes is a volunteer-driven active event for women that that brings the passion and spirit of young community leaders together to support the Alzheimer’s Association.   The event concept is organized around a flag football game in which the two participating teams are divided based on the age-old rivalry between blondes and brunettes.

An event committee leads the organization of the BvB game and all associated events. This committee has the support of the local Alzheimer’s Association chapter in coordination and organization.

The funds raised through Blondes vs. Brunettes benefit the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. We strive to:

  • Help families across the country by continuing to provide and enhance programs focusing on education and support.
  • Advance critical research studies into methods of treatment, prevention and ultimately, a cure.
  • Speak up for the needs and rights of those facing Alzheimer’s through our public policy initiatives.
