Local High School Girls - You are Invited to the 3rd Annual Young Women LEAD Conference!

Young Women LEAD is a leadership, education and development conference for high school girls. The keynote speaker this year is Koren Zailckas, author of Smashed: Story of a Drunken Childhood, a candid and conversational account of her experiences as an underage drinker. This book sparked candid conversations and brought light on just what American teenage girls face. Zailckas received literary acclaim for her book and has been featured on several television shows such as 20/20, The View, Good Morning America, The Tyra Banks Show, and Anderson Cooper 360. Zailckas also helped U.S. Surgeon General unveil his Call to Action to Prevent and Reduce Underage Drinking.

I caught up with Christina Mayes - LEAD coordinator - about the conference. If you or a young lady you know is thinking about attending, check out what Ms. Mayes has to say.

Why should young women attend this event?
This is an opportunity for high school girls to spend time together and meet successful women from the Tri-State and beyond, which allows them to learn more about tapping into their hidden potential and unleashing their inner “rockstar.”

What can they expect to see?
See www.youngwomenlead.org for more information about the keynote speaker and emcee.

What special events can attendees expect?
Dillards will be hosting a Fashion Style Show for the first time so it should be a fun addition to the breakout sessions and lunch.

 Can you bring friends?
Absolutely!  Each person needs to register by visiting www.youngwomenlead.org/registration/ and submitting the online Student Registration form.  All attendees are registered to win an iPad!  They will also receive a signed copy of the book Smashed:  Story of a Drunken Childhood by best-selling international author Koren Zailckas.
