Showplace South was the place to be last night as local filmmaker Doug Sharp debuted 3 new short films and more than a dozen fake promos for TV shows that I'd definitely watch (also I was in one of the promos because #humblebrag). More than 100 people showed up to celebrate a project that literally almost every actor in Evansville worked on.

Sharp is best known for his locally made feature-film "Grown Men on Tricycles," that premiered in Jan. 2015. He has been making films for the pats couple years and continues to grow as a filmmaker. Last night's event was his chance to debut 3 new shorts: "Animal Friendship Preserve," "12 Agreeable Men," and "Heads-Up Ketchup!"

The first short, "Animal Friendship Preserve" showed what life was like on a farm where all of the animals interact with each other. The animals featured included pigs, goats, chickens, horses, and a grown man. This short was hilarious and it was fun to see the absurdity unfold on screen. The second short, "12 Agreeable Men," was a parody of the famous play "12 Angry Men." While the shortest of the shorts, the film still had plenty of laughs. The last short, "Heads-Up Ketchup," was a hilarious infomercial for an over-the-top ketchup. If you've ever wanted to see people chug ketchup for energy, this is the short for you.

In-between the shorts, Doug shot promos for fake tv shows in the vein of Chicago Fire, PD, Medical, etc. They were all over exaggerated and a real treat to see. This is where most of the local acting community would appear. Some roles were only one-line but it's always fun to see your friends doing ridiculous things.

Overall, the event was a huge success and I look forward to Doug's next feature-film, that is supposed to be about the fictional boy band "Both Ways." Be on the look-out for that in 2017!

Below is a picture of most of the cast. So many people came together for this project and I can't wait for the next one!
