Lady Gaga Reveals Controversial Beauty Secret Involving Facelift Tape
Lady Gaga is known for outrageous makeup and glam wigs and hair, but she has revealed some of her beauty secrets and one involves facelift tape. Her viewpoint about shaping her eyes is a bit controversial, too.
Gaga supposedly confessed that she uses facelift tape to pull the skin of her cheekbones back and to keep her neck tight and in shape. Gaga is all of 28 and has good skin and features, but she is using the tape to give her a boost and to help create eye shapes she wasn’t born with.
So she wasn't born this way... that was too easy.
The Mirror reports that Gaga spoke about her daily ritual and regimen, saying, "When I have my wig cap on and I’m taping my face, it’s a sort of meditation for me. Every day, it starts the same way. It’s like a mantra."
Taping her face?
She furthered, explaining, "I wash my face, I pin my hair back and put on a wig cap and I ask, 'How am I going to form my eyes today with this tape? How will I pull back my neck with tape?'" That sounds almost too prepared of an answer. Is she serious?!
Eye shaping is a bit of a controversial subject, given the fact that some Asian girls have had surgery to reshape their unique almond eyes to give them a more Western appearance. Gaga saying something about shaping her eyes is a wee bit insensitive, since it might make girls think they should change something about their looks that is natural and beautiful.
It's also flying in the face of her edict of loving yourself as is -- remember, she sings about rejoicing and loving yourself today because you born this way.
However, she is creating a character and persona with her looks and style.
Gaga also reportedly said, "Looking artificial can be honest. Being glamorous can come from a place of authenticity and a place of love."
The train of thought and logic there is a bit confusing. Glam can indeed come from a place of love and artistry, but that artificial comment is somewhat confusing.
The Mirror spoke to a cosmetic surgeon, who said that taping can do more damage than good.
Jeya Prakash explained, "By taping your face tight, you are reducing the circulation which means there are less nutrients getting to the skin, so abnormal collagen will be produced. This is like internal scarring as different types of cells form the skin - like with a scar. In the long term, it will speed up the ageing process."
Gaga, you are gorgeous as is. Use eyeliner and shadow, tools and product to enhance your eyes, not tape to reshape.
