Lady Gaga has had her issues with Russia. (She was sued for promoting gay values in the country, which ironically aligns her with her nemesis Madonna.) Now, in the wake of Olympic diver Tom Daley coming out, Gaga has said that we should boycott the 2014 games, which will be held in Sochi, Russia.

Gay culture and lifestyles are not accepted in Russia, which passed a law prohibiting propaganda of nontraditional sexual relations among minors, which basically means you can't promote, support or celebrate homosexuality. President Vladimir Putin also signed a law that forbids same-sex couples to adopt.

In her interview on Alan Carr's 'Chatty Man' in London, which airs tonight (Dec. 6), Gaga was asked about Daley's big reveal, to which she made an interesting point.

"I don’t think that we should be going to the Olympics at all," Ma Monster boldly said. "I don’t know if my opinion is not highly regarded, in terms of the amazing champions and people that are rehearsing and training for the event… I mean I would never take anything away from their hard work, I just think it is absolutely wrong for so many countries to give money and economy in the way of a country that doesn’t support gays."

Her point is well-made and well-taken.

She furthered, "Sorry, now I’m getting serious, but it’s not just that they don’t support the gay community, they pepper spray and beat them in Russia. I went to Russia for the Born This Way Ball, and I was really excited to be there, because I felt it was an important place to bring the message of the album. But it made me very sad to see the pain that some of the gay kids are in [when living] in Russia.”

That's certainly something to stew over... PopCrushers, little monsters and those with Olympic dreams, what do you think of Gaga's assessment? It's interesting since Daley himself said in his video that his dating situation should not be a big deal and that his focus is on winning Olympic gold in 2014. He's still going despite Russia's anti-gay atmosphere.
