Many recipes call for cream soup. Here is a great recipe I recently found that can be used in place of any cream soup and is cheaper than all of those purchased cans.

  • 1 cup non-fat dried milk
  • 3/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup bouillon (if you have cubes you have to smash them up) - Use whatever kind of bouillon you like, beef, chicken, veggie!
  • 4 Tablespoons freeze dried minced onions (in the spice aisle),
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme or dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon pepper

For the equivalent of one can of condensed cream soup, mix 1/3 cup of dry mix with 1 1/4 cup of water. Cook until thick.

I double the recipe and mix this in a container with the recipe taped on the outside. Bouillon can be purchased in plastic jars so you don't have to smash cubes, I now prefer the jars of bouillon to cubes. Use this recipe in place of any cream soup.
