Kim Kardashian has responded to the backlash for dressing up like Aaliyah for Halloween. The celebutante dressed like several music icons, including Cher and Madonna, but her recreated look of the late R&B singer had folks in their feelings.

Many fans called out Kim for cultural appropriation and some even called her a racist for resembling Aaliyah from the “Try Again” video.

"Kim Kardashian did Aaliyah so dirty tryna be her for halloween.... she needs to go sit somewhere," tweeted one fan.

On Saturday (Nov. 4) Kim apologized to anyone who was offended by her dressing up Aaliyah.

“Aaliyah was such an amazing singer and she will forever be a music legend. I saw online that some people were offended by my Aaliyah costume and I am sorry if that offended anyone," reads her open letter via her app. But I wasn’t dressing up as a race or culture but rather as a woman I admire and think is amazing, so I don’t agree honestly."

Kim closed out the letter stating that other family members were dressed as other music icons like Michael Jackson and Axl Rose and wasn't criticized. "We are just paying homage to people and artists we love and respect -- it’s that simple,” she wrote.

Some people have accepted her apology, while others admonished people for attacking Kim K on her Aaliyah ensemble.

Y'all got @KimKardashian apologizing for nothing. There was nothing wrong with her costume. It's just Halloween. Everyone relax," tweeted one person.
