Kat’s Wedding Vows [VIDEO]
Mike & I had made the decision early on (as early on as you can when planning a wedding in 6 weeks!) that we would write our own vows. It sounded like a truly brilliant idea at the time. What, with me being a public speaker and Mike being a writer for a living. What could go wrong?
What could go wrong… Well, honestly nothing really went wrong. The day was perfect. Everything ran smoothly and the guests all seemed to have a really great time. The only problem was that Mike & I both ran out of time leading up to the wedding. With doing all of the planning & execution in only 6 weeks, it’s no surprise that their were going to be some details that managed to slip through the cracks. Honestly, the ONLY detail that seemed to make it’s way through said cracks, was the writing of the vows… of ALL things!
Literally 5 minutes before Mike went downstairs to take his place, I looked at him & told him that I had failed. The conversation went something like this:
Me: Um… Baby… I haven’t had a chance to write my vows…
Mike: I haven’t either!
Me: Oh Boy!
Mike: What are we going to do?
Me: (with a nervous laugh) I guess we’re going to wing it!
Now. Imagine what our Officiant, Minister Caine, thought when he says that the couple have prepared personal vows, and I look at him and say, “Yeah. About that…” LOL Of course, I am a professional, right? So I make the announcement that we in fact did not get around to writing our own vows and are going to “wing it!” Believe it or not, I think we did ok! I started by saying “If you had told me a year ago, that I would be here doing this, I would have laughed at you… until I peed my pants!” Yep. Eloquent right? Wanna see what else I had to say? Take a look at the video that Big Boy took for us.
