Kat’s New Pad – A Fresh Start and a New Adventure
My husband, Mike and I recently moved into a new house. There are so many things to do, and so many projects I want to accomplish! I’m not sure where to start!
First of all let me tell you how much I loathe moving! Growing up, I moved – a lot. I quite literally started every grade in a new place as far back as I can remember. As an adult, I just don’t like the process of packing, moving out, cleaning, more cleaning, moving in, and unpacking. I am an instant gratification kinda girl. I want to be able to just wiggle my little nose and *poof*! Everything is as it should be. Unfortunately, this is the real world, and it doesn’t work that way.

Two weeks ago we rented the giant UHaul – the 26-footer – and loaded up the entire menagerie of our belongings, and we unloaded it into a charming and quaint 1950′s brick ranch with arched doorways, wood floors, and a chandelier in the dining room. Our new place also has a full basement, attached garage, and sunroom, but we won’t talk about the blue bathtub… Now Mike and I are in the process of unpacking – yuck! Plus, we’re finding ourselves daydreaming of all of the possibilities that our new home has to offer.

A few of the things on the “to-do list” include planting a garden this spring and growing some fresh veggies, refinishing the dining room table and chairs that we picked up this weekend for a steal, and trolling the thrift stores for a few key pieces that we’d still like to have to make the house feel more like home. Even without everything being “perfect” this is definitely first place that I have been in a long time that feels like home!
