Kat’s Birthday Is Only A Few Days Away – Here’s Her Wish
I cannot believe that another year has come to pass, and that in a few short DAYS, I will be another year older. What you likely don’t know is that on my birthday last year, I vowed to myself that the 32nd year of my life would NOT be like the year before. Here’s an excerpt from my personal blog:
2009 did not end the way that I had thought it would. 2010 certainly did not BEGIN like I thought IT would. Of course 2010 also didnt go like I thought it would either. Life in 2010 was a bit of a roller coaster full of ups & downs, and sharp turns. To be honest I was starting to get a little motion sickness. My Goals: Have fun. Enjoy the ride. Let it lead where it takes me. Be myself.

I would like to say that I succeeded. What an incredibly eventful year this has been. There have been many many changes in my life. The biggest changes have been by far, meeting, dating, and becoming engaged to Mike, and combining out two families. The start to my career with KISS-FM that led to my addition to The Rob’s Radio Show has also been a major change to my life. This is where I start thinking about my upcoming birthday, how I would like to commemorate the year past, and the fact that despite the setbacks in the last year, I managed to survive!
I have recently taken a genuine interest in the Humane Society of Henderson County, and the services that they provide. I have visited their facility, taking supplies that they were in need of. I also have volunteered my time to a recent pet adoption event, and I also adopted a new kitty to add to the family. The HSHC…
- Rescues and cares for more than 2,400 animals each year
- Is a private, nonprofit organization serving the animals and people of Henderson County and beyond since 1965
- Receives no government funding for the Humane Society and is not a United Way agency. We do receive City and County contract funding for the Animal Control services we provide
- Receives no funding from, and is not affiliated with, any national humane organizations
- Depends on the generosity of individual and corporate supporters to fund our programs and services.
To celebrate my 33rd year… are you ready for my birthday wish??
I would like to ask that those that would ordinarily spend money on a gift (and those that ordinarily don’t), please make a donation to the Humane Society of Henderson County. It is very costly to care for these animals while they await their forever homes. Some are in need of lifesaving heart-worm treatment, and a donation could literally save their life. The Humane Society also has a program where they trap, spay/neuter, and re-release feral cats to prohibit overpopulation. These things take funding, and those funds come from people just like you and me. Maybe you can drop off some cleaning supplies… Maybe you can donate your time to volunteer… Maybe you can make a $5 donation… Or maybe you can sponsor an animal, reducing the adoption fee for that particular animal, helping them get into a new home… Whatever way that you may be able to help, this is my birthday wish.
