It's Mardi Gras season and that means I had to hit up Stockwell Inn for some Cajun cuisine! I tried something new!

I have tried boiled crawfish before, complete with the sucking of the head. It isn't necessarily my thing, but I thought I'd give the crawfish etouffe a try. It's almost like a gumbo or chowder served over rice.

We also ordered some Jumbalaya. This is one of my favorite Cajun dishes because it has all the spice of N'orleans without the fishy flavor of the crawfish. It's made with rice, sausage & chicken and has just enough spice to it to make your nose run just a little bit.

Another favorite Mardi Gras fare is the fried gator! It is simply delicious! It has a great flavor and a perfect texture and is served with a little honey mustard to dip it in.

Of course we had to finish our meal with a piece of white chocolate bread pudding! You've probably heard me talk about this during Fall Festival because it's served at the It Takes a Village Canine Rescue booth. This is easily one of my all time favorite desserts in Evansville and it's a Stockwell Inn specialty!

Speaking of It Takes a Village... I had to buy some beads while I was at Stockwell. The proceeds go to benefit the dogs of ITV!!! I am loving my flashing little rubber ducky beads!

Not only can you stop by Stockwell for some cajun, but you can bring the whole family! They have a new family room so you can bring the kids too eat too!
