Shawn and I had a dinner date at NW Chophouse in Newburgh and I have to say, we were not disappointed!

Shawn & I love going out to dinner. We both are total food snobs, and we had an opportunity recently to visit NW Chophouse in Newburgh. If you haven't visited this gem, you are missing out! We even had the opportunity to chat with owner, Nick Weisenborn and his daughter Bella!

Salmon Sliders and House Cut Fries

Nick was really excited to have us in the restaurant and he wanted us to try the Salmon Sliders - part of his new bar menu that is forthcoming, along with the current renovation to the bar area that is currently in progress. The sliders were served with fresh arugula and wasabi mayo. The house cut french fries were perfect and were served with a side of the wasabi mayo. The mayo was perfectly hot, just like it should be! This will be a part of the new menu for the remodeled bar.

Strawberry and Maytag

I do not know how Nick has managed to create a salad that tastes like dessert, but he did it... twice! First, there was the Strawberry & Maytag. A salad created with fresh, crisp romaine, delicious strawberries, bits of crumbled Maytag blue cheese, and sweet, candied pecans tossed in a vinaigrette. This salad was heaven!

Seared Pear and Arugula

Remember how I said he made a salad that tasted like dessert twice? Allow me to introduce you to the Seared Pear and Arugula salad. Nick really outdid himself with this one. Fresh arugula, pistachios, sweet onions and feta cheese tossed with a vinaigrette, makes this salad a meal all its own. It was absolutely delicious.

Lillian's Filet a la Oscar wtih Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Lillian's Filet is one of the most delectable, tender cuts of meat that will ever cross your palate. This house cut steak - yes, Nick butchers all of the meat for his restaurant too - is so tender, you can literally cut it without using a knife. All you need is your fork. The flavor is incredible and it was cooked to a perfect medium. It was topped with the Oscar, an add-on topping consisting of grilled asparagus, sweet crab and a wine creme sauce and served with a side of the most buttery, garlic mashed potatoes, sure to make your mouth happy!

Dessert

Admittedly, I was so taken by the dessert that Shawn & I shared, that I didn't even stop to take a photo of it! We enjoyed a brown sugar and bourbon poached pear served with vanilla bean ice cream, fresh strawberries and a caramel drizzle. The best part was the Nick's daughter, Bella served us our dessert with a big smile!

If you are looking for the best food in the Evansville area, you need to visit NW Chophouse in Newburgh. The steaks are second to none and the flavor combinations that you'll experience will leave you wanting more. With the bar renovation and the new bar menu coming, we can't wait to see what Nick has lined up in store for us next!
