Kat Remembers Her First Day of High School

My daughter started her Freshman year of high school today, and her nervousness reminded me of when I started high school.

I cannot believe that my daughter is officially in high school. That just does not seem possible at all! I want to know where my little girl went to, but I am so incredibly proud of the beautiful, talented and compassionate young woman that she has grown into. I was texting with her this morning while she was on the bus and her anxieties were enough to almost make me anxious!

I remember the first day of Freshman year very well. I had this crazy fear that someone was going to shove me into a locker and I would be stuck there for the whole day! I had always been incredibly thin despite efforts to gain weight, and I was certain that someone would shove me in a locker because I was the only one that would be small enough to actually fit! Needless to say, I made it through not only the first day of Freshman year, but all of high school without ever being stuffed into a locker! We'll call that one a victory!
