June is Cat Adoption Month. Contrary to what The Rob may have said this morning, I am not personally up for adoption. LOL

So why is June National Cat Adoption Month? Well in part, because why wouldn't you want to adopt a new kitty... and because this is cat season. There are literally thousands of kittens born this time of year to momma cats who haven't been spayed. You'll likely see an influx of photos on social media of friends of friends trying to give away free kittens. This also means an influx of momma cats & kittens at our local animal shelters. So, yes. June is Cat Adoption Month.

If you would like to adopt a new kitty into your home, you can find listings for local cats & kittens on Petfinder.com or just stop by one of the many animal rescues right here in the Evansville area. I've created a list of links below.

I have 2 cats. Sophe showed up on my porch tiny, and starving about 7 years ago, and  Boo who's about 2 years old, was adopted from the Humane Society of Henderson County. They have so much personality. They crack me up! It's the cutest thing in the world to see Sophe playing mom, and grooming Boo. They are so sweet to each other.

Speaking of sweet, take a look at this video of a shelter cat named Thomas O'Malley Flufferpants as he loves all over the family dog. The dog doesn't seem angry about it, but he does look like he'd rather be taking a nice ride in a convertible with the wind in his ears!

A few local places to look for your next adoption:

The Humane Society of Henderson County

Vanderburgh Humane Society

PAAWS No-Kill Animal Rescue

Warrick Humane Society

Bullie Nation Rescue

Another Chance For Animals

Gibson County Animal Services

It Takes A Village Canine Rescue

All of these locations have adoptable dogs and cats. Some even have small animals for adoption as well.
