Several months ago, many people of the city of Evansville united and created a city-wide slogan for its inhabitants, settling on "E is for everyone." The "E is for everyone" brand initiative launched all over the city earlier this year, but not without opposition. Most believed that Evansville could benefit from a branding initiative to help unite the city, but some believed the new slogan was inadequate in describing the city as a whole. This now begs the question, is "E is for everyone" really the best slogan for Evansville?

After a few months experiencing the new city branding initiative, I've found myself liking it a lot more than I initially did. Like many, I remained skeptical about a branding initiative for a city. To me, it appeared as more of a strategic business move rather than a community unifier which I found distasteful. Luckily, my initial perceptions were wrong, as it seems as though the slogan is more than just an attempt at slapping a catchphrase onto Evansville to make the city sound more appealing. "E is for everyone" seems to be doing exactly what it promises to do in its mission:

Our mission is to create a platform where everyone can connect with someone or something new, find a unique way to contribute to the community, and celebrate together what makes our region great.

"E is for everyone" is following through with its promise to celebrate what makes the region great including showcasing the diversity, available opportunity, unity, and creativity of our city. A message like this is exactly the kind of message our city needs to send to the world outside of Evansville but moreover, it's an important message to send to citizens within Evansville so they may continue to thrive in an environment that they feel they can support and take part in. It's a reminder to all of us that, at the end of the day, we're more than just a city. We are diverse. We are compassionate. We are creative. We are the future. Most importantly, we are a community. A community of givers, helpers, lovers and trailblazers working to make this community better and brighter each and every day.

So, is "E is for everyone" a good enough slogan for Evansville? It's better than good enough; it's superb. Check out a brief video for the E is for everyone brand initiative below! For more information on Evansville's brand initiative "E is for everyone", click here!

A note for those who disagree:

It's perfectly okay if you feel as though another slogan would have been better suited to describe Evansville as a community. However, keep in mind that this initiative as a whole does a pretty good job at showcasing the absolute best of our city.

Do you still disagree? Fine. Instead of sitting around and complaining, get involved. Contribute to make your city an even better place. Taking action paves the way to change. If you don't like that recommendation, then I only have one thing to say to you:

"The haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate..."
