The Indianapolis Colts will honor the man responsible for one of the team's most prolific runs when former General Manager, Bill Polian, is inducted into the team's Ring of Honor at Lucas Oil Stadium on New Year's Day.

The team announced the induction on Twitter Monday morning.

Polian, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame last August, spent 14 seasons with the team beginning in 1998 until his termination following the 2011-12 season. Under his watch, the team drafted Peyton Manning with the first pick of the 1998 draft, who of course became the catalyst for the team's success over the following 10-plus years.

In the years that followed, Polian was also responsible for the selections of players such as Edgerrin James (1999), Reggie Wayne (2001), Dwight Freeney (2002), Dallas Clark (2003), Robert Mathis (2003), and Pat McAfee (2009) among others. Known for his keen eye for talent, the Hall of Famer also brought in free agents, Jeff Saturday, Gary Brackett, and Adam Vinatieri.

During his tenure, the team won eight division titles, advanced to the postseason 11 times and posted 10 or more wins in each of those playoff years. From 2000-09, the Colts produced 115 regular season wins, the most in a decade by any NFL club. They also posted a 143-81 regular season record, which ranked as the second-best mark in the NFL during that span.

His official induction will take place during halftime of the team's final home game of the season against Jacksonville on New Year's Day.
