Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio are all in the top 15 states for the most drug overdoses. 

The opioid epidemic is sweeping across the United States, but some states seem to be taking a hit worse than others.

A report released by CBS News has released where each state stands for deadly drug overdoses. Indiana and its neighboring states ranked high on the list.

Illinois fell somewhere in the middle at #24, which is 18.9 deaths per 100,000 residents.

Indiana ranked in at #15, which comes out to approximately 24 deaths per 100,000 residents.

Kentucky shot near the top of the list, coming in at #5 for deadly drug overdoses. That calculates out to 33.5 deaths per 100,000 residents.

Ohio came in at #2, which comes out to about 39.1 deaths per 100,000 residents.

West Virginia was the #1 state, making them the state with the most deadly drug overdoses by year.
