The Indiana Department of Homeland Security has issued a statement in regards to Hoosiers attempting to reach friends and family in Boston area in the wake of Monday's bombings.

In an e-mail sent to media outlets, Media Relations representative John Erickson said the Department "received information from a Massachusetts emergency management agency" that a special telephone number had been setup for people to call if they're having trouble reaching loved one's in the Boston area.

That number is, 617-635-4500.

Erickson stressed in his e-mail the number is ONLY for those having difficulty contacting friends and family.

Reports from Boston are that due to the events of the day, the increased cell phone traffic has made service spotty in some areas of the city.
