Hostess Files for Bankruptcy – Bye Bye Twinkie

No more TWINKIES?!?! Say it ain't so... Sorry, but the rumors are true. Hostess, the makers of some of the world's most popular snacks, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. I guess even snack cakes can be victims of a bad economy.

According to the New York Times, "Hostess Brands Inc., the maker of Twinkies and Wonder Bread, is seeking bankruptcy protection, blaming its pension and medical benefits obligations, increased competition and tough economic conditions..."

Hostess CEO, Brian Driscoll has issued a statement reassuring loyal snack cake and bread customers, that despite the bankruptcy filing, Hostess "does not anticipate any disruptions in the making of or delivery of its breads or cake products..." If that's the case, then what was the purpose of the bankruptcy? At this point, I really don't care! As long as I can still get my wife her Suzy-Q fix!
