Shawn and I tried a new Mexican restaurant for dinner and I have thoughts.

First of all, I love a good Mexican meal and we found it at Herradura on Bellemeade Avenue in the building that formerly housed the Sirloin Stockade for years in Evansville, right across from Red Lobster.

As is common, our meal started with chips and salsa. I can't say for sure, but the salsa tasted homemade and fresh. It had the right amount of spice to it to make it family friendly without being too bland. It also had just the right amount of cilantro too.

Shawn ordered the Pollo Ranchero, and while it came out sitting in a puddle of what appeared to be grease, it proved to be quite tasty none the less. I had the Supreme Burrito with ground beef. A safe order for me at a new restaurant. It was exactly what I thought it would be and it didn't disappoint. We didn't have room for desert, unfortunately, but I think we'll be going back and I look forward to trying something from Herradura's dessert menu when we do.
