Getting Emotional About Mother’s Day [Kat in Real Life]

How do you celebrate Mother's Day when you don't have a relationship with your own mother?

If you don't know, I haven't had a relationship with my mother in nearly 20 years. This is my own decision and believe me when I tell you it was not a decision that I made lightly or out of spite. This was an incredibly difficult decision that broke my heart to make but I have no doubt that in order for me to thrive and grow as a healthy human being, it was a decision that had to be made. That being said, I have struggled over the years to be the mom that I did not have for my own daughter. I have fallen short more times than I can count, but somehow, someway, I have managed to create an amazing relationship with her that I wouldn't trade for the world. If you don't have a good relationship with your own mother, please know that you are not alone this Mother's Day.
