The passing of Prince has been a shock to all of us. This news is fresh off the passing of David Bowie earlier this year. Hearing of yet another legend passing is very sad, but let us celebrate the life of Prince and the amazing music that he left behind. Here are my top 5 favorite Prince songs:

#5: Cream

Who else could make drinking coffee the sexiest thing ever? Prince had a profound talent of taking something very strange and making a fantastic song out of it. This song is a little jazzier than some of Prince's other hits, but that is in no way a bad thing.

#4: Partyman

This is the reason that I know Prince existed. I'm a geek and saw this video on MTV (I had negligent parents) when I was 3 or 4 and immediately was fascinated as to why this dude was dressed like the Joker. When I finally saw Batman 1989, I realized that that weird dude most of the soundtrack. I love this song because it's Prince signing in a Batman movie. What else needs to be said?

#3 Little Red Corvette

I love this Prince song because it's one of the first songs that I looked forward to playing when I started in radio almost 4 years ago. I was on our former classic hits station and there were a lot of songs that I didn't know because I was a young whippersnapper. But I did know about Little Red Corvette. This is a great song named after my dream car. Why would I not love it?

#2 When Doves Cry

I'm sure everyone was wondering where When Doves cry would appear on my list. You can't be a Prince fan if this song isn't in your Top 5. This song is as iconic as it is amazing. Before this song, we didn't care about doves or what they sounded like crying. This song finally answered that question in an amazing way. I honestly have no idea what any of that sentence meant but what else could be said about this awesome song? It's great.

#1 I Would Die 4 U

Ok, I KNOW this isn't Prince's version but this is the best I could find on YouTube. I cant' describe exactly what makes this song my favorite by Prince but I love it. I remember hearing this in my car a couple weeks ago driving back from St. Louis. This song is the perfect showcase of what made Prince, well, Prince. Prince comprised a legacy that most can only dream of. He will be missed (and remembered) forever.
