This weekend, I did stand-up at Chubby's Comedy Club. I had a great time, but there was one very hilarious mishap.

I've been doing stand-up for almost 8 years now. 8 years of hustling, getting shows, and not becoming rich and famous. I have plenty of stories from throughout the years but this weekend wins.

All weekend, it rained in Indianapolis (where I was booked as part of the "Nerd Weekend" at the amazing Chubby's Comedy Club) which caused lots of flooding. It also caused the roof and ceiling of the club to start leaking.

That's a not a huge deal because sometimes, that just happens. Stuff leaks, you get a bucket, and your problem is solved. The show was set to have three people perform on Friday night: myself, the hilarious Tyson Cox, and the fantastic host, JC Harvey. JC begins his set by telling some great Pokemon GO jokes and the crowd is loving it. As he gets deeper into his set, more leaks start dripping onto the stage and the ceiling looks less and less friendly. About 15 min's into JC's set, the show is called off because the roof is about to come down.

As a performer, you hate to have a show called. As a club owner, you hate doing it because it means giving refunds and taking an L for the night. Stubbornly, I was ready to go up and have a great set with "the show must go on" mentality.

That lasted for another five minutes until I watched in horror as most of the ceiling come crashing down onto the stage. Nobody was hurt which is always good. But the ceiling actually collapsed. We brought the house down. Literally. And yes, you knew that joke was coming. The only downside to not performing when the ceiling came down was that I probably could have gone viral. "Comedian CRUSHES and then Crushed by Ceiling" has a pretty good ring to it. I may have missed my chance at fame.

The Saturday shows went off without a hitch and I had a great time being hilarious. I also met a funny 17 year old comic who might be my son (not really but he looks like me a whole bunch).

If you are ever in Indianapolis, check out Chubby's Comedy Club in Fountain Square. The staff is amazing and the comics are always funny. Also, if you go on Oct 14th and 15th, I'll be headlining and gladly appreciate your attendance (and dollar bills, y'all).
