At 2am this morning, the first season of "Fuller House' was released on Netflix. For the first time in 21 years, members of the Tanner family are gracing my television screen with new adventures.

I have watched two episodes of the new series, and I have to say, I'm hooked. I have no idea why. I should have outgrown the catchphrases and wacky life-lessons but there is something so strangle comforting about the nostalgia that "Fuller House" brings.

"Fuller House" follows DJ Tanner as she is trying to raise three boys (one of the kids is a baby because the "Full House" machine loves employing twin babies). Her husband passed away fighting a fire so she is single mom'ing it. The rest of the gang are doing very well since we last saw the characters. Joey has a show in Vegas, Becky and Danny have a nationally syndicated talk show in LA, Jesse is also in LA (Also, John Stamos has discovered the fountain of youth because HAVE MERCY). Stephanie is a world renowned DJ and Michelle has a fashion empire in New York (They acknowledge this in a nice fourth-wall breaking moment.) The first episode mainly serves to get the gang back together for some good ol' 90's nostalgia. Seeing the entire cast back together (minus the Olsen twins) made me feel the same way I did watching TGIF back in elementary school. I don't know if its a good thing as I'm a 29 year old dude flashing back to watching TV shows in the 90's.

The first episode ends with Stephanie, Kimmy Gibbler, and Kimmy's daughter moving into the old Tanner home. There are some genuinely funny moments in the premiere and I enjoy some of the in-jokes from episodes in the previous series. This really sets in the motion the rest of the series.

Episode 2 is less fan-service and attempts to morph the show into it's own thing. It does a good job of this even if the plot of the episode is filled with classic sitcom tropes. DJ's son, Jackson, is forced to share a room with his younger brother, Max. Jackson doesn't like this because he's the cool older brother. This gives Stephanie and DJ a chance to reminisce about the time they had to share a room. Jackson attempts to run away from home by stowing away in a visiting Uncle Jesse's truck. He comes back and learns a lesson about friendship and family and we hear those always amazing "Lesson is being learned" violins! Jesse even makes a reference to it.

Overall, I am enjoying the show. I'm about half-way through episode three (I would have finished it but my bosses aren't thrilled with the idea of me binging an entire series at work) and I'm enjoying what the show is providing. It's not going to win any awards but it's still new episodes of "Full House" in a world where there aren't a lot of family friendly options on TV. So yeah, if you need a reminder that the 90's were wacky, check out "Fuller House" and enjoy the ride!
