Four Things The Rob Can’t Stand But Everybody Else Loves – Music Edition

Music is definitely one of my passions, and I've blogged a lot about music in the past.  But I have some secrets confessions I have not yet revealed regarding my musical preferences.  However, this isn't a list about things that I like...  This is a list of things that EVERBODY ELSE likes, but I can't stand.  This list is in no particular order.

#1 - HOOTIE & THE BLOWFISH: People are always surprised that I don't like Hootie or his Blowfish.  He's from my "wheelhouse" of popular mid-90s music, they had a TON of hits from one of my favorite years of music, 1995.  All my friends, my family, seriously EVERYBODY loves Hootie & the Blowfish.  But not me.

The fact that their lead singer has gone on to have a successful country music career could probably partially explain this.

#2 - HOTEL CALIFORNIA: I was originally going to induct this as "The Eagles," but I don't think I hate the Eagles.  I think I just hate "Hotel California."  I know, I know...  EVERYBODY loves this song.  I just can't stand it.  I can't explain why I don't like it.  It may be because when I was a young boy working at a McDonald's this song would play literally every hour.  But I don't think that's what it is.  I don't hold any hostility towards any of the other songs on that thin McDonald's mix CD.  I think I just don't like the song.  Sorry.

#3 - MATCHBOX 20: Much like Hootie and/or the Blowflish, Matchbox 20 is a staple of 90s pop culture, and still have a rabid fan base today, so you would think I would have a strong affection to them...  But that thought could not be further from the truth.  I can't stand Matchbox 20.

#4 - COUNTRY MUSIC: This shouldn't be a surprise to anybody that knows me or listens to my show.  I despise country music.  End of story.  Period.
