Five Things You Need to Survive the Mardi Gras Pub Crawl on Franklin This Weekend

One of my favorite things about Evansville is Franklin Street! There are SO many fun things down on Franklin.  When it's not lined with food booths and rides for the Fall Fest it's packed with people trying to have a good time at fun bars.  Franklin Street is notorious for having some AMAZING Pub Crawls, as a recent college student (technically I'm an "alumni", but I don't want to be an adult yet so I'm not gonna say it) from USI I've gone to my fair share of pub crawls.  And let me tell you nobody puts on a pub crawl quite like dear old Franklin Street!  I'm here to tell you how to survive!

The Pub Crawl happening this weekend is the Mardi Gras Pub Crawl, and when you mix Mardi Gras and Franklin Street crazy things happen, and it's a blast! But in order to survive the Mardi Gras Pub Crawl, you're going to need a few things.

1) Beads, beads, beads, beads, beads!

It's MARDI GRAS the name literally translates to: "Party while wearing tacky plastic necklaces!"  Or something like that.... I personally enjoy going to the Nick Nackery they have a ton of awesome novelty beads perfect for anyone. Also if you're looking to get a ton of beads cheap, Dollar Tree won't let ya down either!

2) Comfortable shoes

I know the comfortable shoes aren't nearly as cute as those heels, but trust me after a few drinks you won't even remember what shoes you had on and your feet will thank you the next day!

3) Your ID

Forgetting this will severely hinder your night, as you cannot get into a bar without it.

4) Plenty of water.

Okay so you don't have to pack a canteen around with you, but at least try to have a glass of water at each bar, or every other bar.  Do you know why you get a hangover?  Because you're dehydrated.  Don't believe me, check with the Google man.  This will mainly help you the next day.

5) A group of good friends

Pub crawling alone is sad, and possibly dangerous, so it's highly recommended you go with good friends for good times.

Now the one thing I didn't add to this list is a designated driver, because you should know that you need a DD. HOWEVER, if you guys don't have a DD this time around it's okay because your $5 wristband not only gets you into every bar cover free, it also gets you rides on the shuttle, and a FREE cab ride home.  So there is absolutely no excuse to drive.  Go have a good time, and be safe!
