So an art professor and a geologist walk into a lab...

That's not the setup to a joke, it's 100% legit. Assistant Professor, Department of Art, Bob Wysocki,and Department of Earth Sciences Professor, geologist Jeff Karson, co-workers at Syracuse University, apparently discovered they have mutual love of lava. Both were curious as to how it reacted when it came into contact with various surfaces, however one of them wanted to study the lava's flow to get a better understanding of substance, while the other was more interested in how pretty it looked once it cooled (I'll leave it up to you to figure out which is which).

For example, the video below pitting lava (heat) against its natural enemy ice (cold). You're probably think you know what happens, but remembers what happens when you "assume" something.

This is a pretty lengthy video and I found myself jumping ahead in a few spots, on the flip side, there is something mesmerizing about the whole thing.
