Attention advertisers, if you want me to pay attention to your commercial, give me a song that grooves.

The latest Honda Civic commercial (titled "Today is Pretty Great" for what it's worth) does just that. Every time that simple, yet catchy blues-rock guitar riff comes on, I stop what I'm doing and listen. After seeing the spot for the 100th time the other night, I had to figure out what the song was called — to the interwebs!

After an exhaustive two to three minute search, I found some good news, and some bad news. The good news is that the group performing the song is an actual group, and not some studio musicians who wrote a catchy jingle. They call themselves Vintage Trouble, hail from Los Angeles, and have been together since 2010. While still working on getting exposure here in the states (this commercial should help — and hopefully this blog), they have been well received in Europe. A plan designed by the man who signed them to a record deal, Doc McGhee. Music magazines and other publications in England dubbed them "the next big thing" and "breakout artist", while Germany's Classic Rock Magazine gave them the "Best New Artist Award" in 2011. A classic rock publication giving out a best new artist award seems like an oxymoron to me, but it's Germany, they drink their beer at room temperature.

Now then here's the bad news, the song in the commercial was written specifically for the ad and isn't available to purchase, at least not yet. Hopefully that will change as more people go looking for it. The full version of the commercial is below. If you dig what you hear, like I did, check out their YouTube page for even more catchy blues-rock tunes. True story - I've been listening to a few of their other songs the whole time I've been writing this post.
