You can enjoy the Public Education Foundation (PEF) and Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation 26th Annual Summer Musical Fiddler on the Roof, which will take place July 10-13, 2014 in the Aiken Theatre at Old National Events Plaza (formerly The Centre) in downtown Evansville.  On July 10, 11 and 12 the evening showtime is 7:00 p.m., and on Sunday, July 13 you can catch an afternoon matinee at 2:00 p.m.

Fiddler on the Roof is a about a poor dairyman raising his five daughters during a tumultuous time of growing anti-Semitism in Czarist Russia. It is steeped with tradition, and it is rich in history and humor.

The show is produced by Jack Schriber and Amy Walker and is directed by Sue Schriber. This will be the last summer musical for Jack and Sue Schriber, Jan Stovall and Richard Bernhardt.  Jack has helped produce the show since the program began in 1989.  This will be Sue’s 22nd show as director, Jan’s 19th show as choreographer, and Richard’s 7th show as the orchestra director.

Amy Walker shares, “Familiar music, humor, heart-warming touches, big production numbers from VERY talented students who are ages 12-18, representing public and parochial schools from Vanderburgh and surrounding counties.”  Lead actors for the production include Tevye:  Allen Karch, 2014 graduate of North HS; Golde:  Claire Mumford, 2014 graduate of Signature School; Lazar Wolfe:  AJ Mason, 2014 graduate of Harrison HS; and Yente: Candice Gill, senior at Reitz HS.

Auditions were held in March of this year, and schools represented include Bosse, Central, Harrison, North, Reitz, Signature, Memorial, Castle North, Plaza Park, Helfrich Park, St. Ben’s, North Jr. High, Thompkins, and St. Ann’s (Morganfield KY).
