Weird Al’ Yankovic fans are a powerful force, as proven by the parodist’s recent No. 1 album and by the new campaign to get him to next year’s Super Bowl.

One fan is so passionate about getting Weird Al to perform at the Halftime Show that he started a petition to convince the NFL to consider the artist for the coveted TV spot.

“Having him headline the Super Bowl XLIX Halftime Show would not only be overly accepted by the millions of views,” the fan, Ed Ball, wrote on Change.org, “but it would remain true to the standards and quality of the show business we have come to love and respect out of this prestigious event.”

Weird Al’s recent album ‘Mandatory Fun’ parodies a slew of chart-topping songs that Super Bowl audiences would likely recognize, such as ‘Handy,’ a parody of Iggy Azalea’s ‘Fancy,’ and ‘Word Crimes,’ a spoof of Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines.’

The petition currently has over 36,000 signatures, a solid majority of its 50,000 goal. If you want to see Weird Al perform at the Halftime Show, sign your name right here.
