The Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library is back with their annual "Food for Fines" event where you can get your library fines wiped away by donating non-perishable food items (fines waived is dependent on donation size/type) to help those in need! The event takes place now through December 16th and items may be dropped off at any EVPL branch.

Donations made this year will be benefiting the Emergency Food Pantry Coalition and the Vanderburgh Humane Society.

Items accepted this year are food items which also includes dog and cat food. Items must be unopened, not expired, and have all labels still attached. The fine waiving breakdown is as follows per evpl.org:

  • For every canned or boxed food item (human or animal), EVPL will waive $1.00 per item.
  • For every animal treat donated, EVPL will waive $1.00 per bag/box/etc.
  • For every bag of animal food, EVPL will waive $5 - $10 depending on size.

If you would like to do something wonderful for those in need this year and get some library fines wiped away while you're at it, check out the Food for Fines event through December 16th!

While you're here, take a virtual tour of the Central library:

NOTE: On December 16th, Albion Fellows Bacon Center will also be accepting donations for various items. However, this donation drive is NOT affiliated with the EVPL Food for Fines drive.
