Additional Information

The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2013, 238,590 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer and 29,720 will lose their lives to it. Prostate cancer can be a serious disease, but most men diagnosed with prostate cancer do not die from it. With advanced surgical and radiation therapy treatments, more than 2.5 million men in the United States who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer are still alive today.

Despite having overcome their cancer, some men may experience a common side-effect of these treatments – Erectile Dysfunction (ED). To help further increase awareness about the latest treatments for ED during or after prostate cancer surgery or radiation therapy treatments, Evansville Cancer Center/Vantage Oncology (ECC/VO) is welcoming special guest speaker and urologist Dr. Charles Vincent of Deaconess Clinic at its monthly “Man to Man” support group meeting on Tuesday, October 8th from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The meeting will take place at ECC/VO located on 700 North Burkhardt Road in Evansville.

“We continue to make tremendous strides in the detection and treatment of prostate cancer. However, common side-effects such as ED can sometimes be even more emotionally devastating to men than prostate cancer itself,” says Dr. Vincent. “With new ED drugs and other treatments, men can maintain a healthy and active sex life.”
