Big Brothers Big Sisters of Vanderburgh County Makes Bowl For Kids’ Sake Appeal
Fundraiser Allows Community to ‘Start Something’ to Help Children who Face Adversity
WHAT: Big Brothers Big Sisters is challenging everyone—mentors and mentees, their friends and families, partners, community leaders and those who feel they don’t have time to mentor—to join us for Bowl for Kids’ Sake and start something to change the life of a child forever.
HOW: Bowl for Kids’ Sake gives the whole community a way to support positives futures for kids. No matter how a person is involved (bowler, sponsor, team captain, virtual bowler), he/she has helps to start a child on the right path. All people are invited to “Start Something” and Bowl for Kids’ Sake 2012, invites the entire community, not just volunteers, to get involved with the organization. Funds raised allow Big Brothers Big Sisters to carefully make more mentoring matches and provide ongoing assistance for mentors, mentees and families to help sustain long successful relationships unique to its programs.
WHY: Bowl for Kids’ Sake is Big Brothers Big Sisters premiere fundraising event, raising more than $20 million nationwide each year. For more than 40 years, Bowl for Kids’ Sake has supported Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies across the country. Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ohio Valley has been holding an annual Bowl For Kids Sake in Vanderburgh County since the 1980’s. In the past we have successfully raised $45,000 and hope to increase that this year with the support of you and our community!
WHEN/WHERE: Saturday, March 3, 2012, ARC Lanes, Monroe Ave. Evansville. Bowling begins at 9:00 a.m. and continues throughout the day until the last session begins at 6 p.m.
• 9:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. – BBBS of the Ohio Valley Board, President, Mark Miller: Cooking breakfast for all early session bowlers!
• 9:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. – Team Bowling and Big/Little Match Bowling with special Hokey Pokey and backwards bowling games! Event emceed by local radio, business, television and music personalities!
• 7:30 p.m. – Presentation of Awards
