In their continued effort to provide the public more understanding of what it takes to protect the city's streets, the Evansville Police Department is inviting residents to see it firsthand with their annual Citizen's Academy starting June 1st at The Dream Center on West Morgan Avenue across from Bosse Field.

The 10-week program will meet every Wednesday night from 6-9 p.m., and will feature an inside look at how the various areas of law enforcement work independently, and with each other, to solve crimes and keep city residents safe.

Presentations will include representatives from the K-9 unit, S.W.A.T. Team, Bomb Squad, Crime Scene Unit, and more.

If you're interested in attending, simply print and fill out the Citizens Academy form and mail it to the Evansville Police Department at 15 Northwest Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, Room 129 Evansville, Indiana, 47708.

Take note, the EPD will conduct criminal history checks on everyone who registers. So if you're a criminal hoping to sneak in and figure out the inner workings of the police department in order to manipulate them for your own nefarious deeds (I watch too much TV), you might want to re-think your plan.

For more info, or any questions, contact Debbie Baird with the EPD at 812-436-4948 or dbaird@evansvillepolice.com.
