Evansville's own Lilly King came in first place by almost .25 secs in her first Olympic appearance - the heats that determine who advances to the semifinals - and she did it from the lane right next to 2012's 100m Breaststroke Olympic gold winner!

Right before she dove into the water, she looked over and waved at her teammates with a huge smile on her face, which is very unusual for someone racing in such a big event would do. Most athletes like to get into "the zone" and don't like any distractions and focus solely on the race. Not LILLY! She told reporters after her event that her teammates' cheers gave her a boost and there was no anxiety whatsoever!

Lilly will compete in the Semi-final round later on tonight and hopefully she'll advance on to the Finals and bring the gold home!
